Ashish graduated from the Bond University in Queensland, Australia in 2009 and was admitted to practice as a Barrister at Law in the State of New South Wales in early 2010. After a period of practice overseas, he returned to Malaysia and was admitted an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2014.

He then joined the Energy, Infrastructure and Projects practice group at a large Malaysian law firm and remained in the department until joining Skrine in September 2016.

Ashish is involved in the advising, structuring, negotiating, drafting and documenting interdependent agreements for various construction, infrastructure and engineering projects from tender submission to financial close and works principally with partner Richard Khoo.

  • Advised a large Malaysian power producer and drafted all relevant project documentation in relation to the development, construction and the operation and maintenance of a 29MW large scale solar power project in Kedah, Malaysia.
  • Advised a large Malaysian cement producer on the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a clinker production line.
  • Advised the sponsor on the development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a run of the river hydro-electric project in Laos. Was part of the team that advised on and negotiated all of the project documentation, such as the Concession Agreement with the Government of Laos PDR, the Power Purchase Agreement with the state-owned power off-taker, the Land Lease Agreement, the Shareholders Agreement between the sponsor and the state-owned power off-taker in relation to their respective stakes in the project company, and the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Contract for the power plant.
  • Advised a large Chinese contractor in relation to its successful bid for an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract for a refinery and petrochemical facility project in Malaysia, and other related documents.
  • Advised large Chinese contractor in relation to the construction of a coal fired power plant in Sarawak.
