Nathalie Ker graduated from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, with a LLB (First Class Honours) degree in 2012 and was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law (Gray’s Inn) in 2013. Nathalie completed her pupillage at Skrine and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor in the High Court of Malaya in August 2014. She joined Skrine as an Associate in August 2014.

Selected Experience

Corporate and Commercial Disputes

  • Acted as co-counsel for directors and majority shareholders of two private companies in an oppression matter brought under section 181 of the Companies Act 1965.
  • Acted as co-counsel for two private companies in an injunction to prevent winding up proceedings

Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution

  • Assisted in a mediation of three family shareholder/company disputes involving assets of four companies and an estate spanning four jurisdictions involving approximately RM320 million.
  • Assisted in an arbitration involving a pharmaceutical company in a claim of approximately RM10 million.

Securities Litigation

  • Acted as co-counsel for the Malaysian securities regulator in successfully opposing three judicial review applications against regulatory proceedings against an auditor.

Advisory Work

  • Advised a company limited by guarantee regarding a potential derivative action brought by one of its members.
  • Advised a company limited by guarantee regarding the validity of proceedings at meetings of the company in relation to its articles of association and the Companies Act 1965.
  • Assisted in advising a public company on the merits of a potential claim of approximately RM140 million.
