Tan Su Ning graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2012 and completed her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2013. Commencing her pupillage at Skrine, she was subsequently admitted to practice as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2014. She is now an Associate with Skrine in the Dispute Resolution Division.

Employment & Industrial Relations

  • Assisted in advising various corporations on their contracts of employment, general HR practices including disciplinary proceedings, retrenchment exercises, voluntary separation schemes, transfer of employees and termination of employees.
  • Acted as junior counsel at the Industrial Court in respect of direct dismissal and constructive dismissal claims.
  • Advised companies on all employment aspects of takeover of business and cessation of operations.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts of employment for employees, contracts for services for independent contractors, employee handbooks and policies.


  • Advising and assisting a wide range of clients including multinational corporations that employ foreign employees in Malaysia or that second/assign such employees to Malaysia, in obtaining the relevant work permits for the employees, as well as dependant passes for such employees’ family members.

Personal Data Protection

  • Advised various multinational and local companies on data protection issues and in particular, compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 ("PDPA"), and drafting the necessary documents such as consent and notice forms.

Shipping & Maritime

  • Assisted in advising banks on recovery of ship mortgage under conventional and Islamic facilities.
  • Drafted affidavits leading to warrant of arrest and applications for omnibus orders.

General Civil Litigation

  • Acted as junior counsel in the Sessions Court, High Court and the Court of Appeal for one of the major insurance companies in the claim brought by the policyholders including application to strike out the policyholders’ claim.
  • Represented one of the major insurance companies in Malaysia as Defendant and successfully strike out Plaintiff’s action in the Sessions Court.
  • Acted as junior counsel for the Respondent in the disciplinary proceedings for alleged breaches of the Legal Profession (Practice and Etiquette) Rules 1978.
  • Assisted in representing companies for recovery of monies owed by debtors.
