Trishelea read law at the University of Manchester. She was called to the bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2010, where she was a recipient of the Hardwicke Scholarship. She commenced her pupillage in Skrine in January 2011 and was thereafter retained as an Associate, specialising in the areas of Shipping & Admiralty law and Employment & Industrial Relations law.

In 2014, she was awarded the Chevening Scholarship by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to pursue a Master’s in Maritime Law at University College London. Upon completion of her Masters she returned to practice in Skrine. She is currently a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution Division.

Shipping & Admiralty

  • Assisted in representing charterers in charterparty dispute which involved arrest of vessel in complicated and potentially dangerous circumstances requiring careful planning and co-ordination with contacts on the ground.
  • Assisted in representing various local and foreign mortgagees in enforcement of mortgage claims, under conventional and Islamic facilities.
  • Assisted in providing advice on claims arising from explosions on board a chemical tanker during loading resulting in property damage and fatalities.
  • Assisted in representing shipowners in matter involving detention of vessel by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency for contravention of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.
  • Assisted in representing charterers in dispute which required application for injunction to compel the discharge of the client’s cargo from vessel.
  • Assisted in acting for freight forwarders and ship managers in disputes against shipowners.
  • Drafted affidavits leading to warrant of arrest, applications for omnibus orders, ship management agreements, applications for judgment in default and sale of vessel pursuant to Order 70 rule 20 of the Rules of Court 2012 and application for determination of priorities and payment out.
  • Conducted service of writs and warrants of arrest on vessels with court bailiffs in various ports throughout Malaysia.

Employment and Industrial Relations

  • Assisted in representing a company successfully in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court in an action brought by over 600 former employees, claiming termination benefits after leaving on a VSS package.
  • Acted as junior counsel representing liquidators in an action to resist an application by an ex-employee for leave to pursue an action for non-compliance against a company in liquidation.
  • Acted as junior counsel in claim by 292 employees alleging fraud, misrepresentation and conspiracy in a VSS exercise.
  • Acted as junior counsel for in an action brought by a former employee in the Industrial Court for dismissal on grounds of misconduct.
  • Drafted and reviewed letters of offer, employment agreements, consultant agreements, employee handbooks, letters of termination, warning letters and secondment agreements.
  • Advised on employment issues arising from transactions involving the transfer of business/assets, including assisting in due diligence exercises.
  • Advised companies on mutual separation schemes and voluntary separation schemes.
  • Advising on employment issues arising from retrenchment or closure of business.


  • Advised and assisted various corporations, including multinationals in applications for employment passes, dependant passes and professional visit passes for foreign individuals in these corporations.
  • Advised on long and short term social visit passes.

General civil/corporate

  • Acted as counsel to resist winding-up petition issued against company.
  • Advised multiple defendants in matter involving the setting aside of an Anton Piller order, order under the Bankers Book (Evidence) Act 1949 and prohibitory injunction.
